Stop everything and read!

Reading Hour 2019 is on Thursday 19 September and we’re celebrating with a Twilight Storytime and Teddy Bear Sleep Over at Cessnock City Library.

Cessnock City Library is inviting kids to put on their comfiest PJs, grab their teddy bear or favourite stuffed toy for an hour of stories, craft and a bedtime snack. The fun kicks off at 6pm.

If their feeling brave, kids can leave their teddy bear for an overnight sleepover at the library and collect them the following morning. Kids will be able to see what adventures their teddy got up to overnight by looking at the Library’s Facebook page.   Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters encourages everyone to pick up a book this reading hour.

“In children, reading has been shown to help with identity formation, setting them up for success in the future.  In adults, reading has been shown to reduce stress by 68% more than listening to music, going for a walk, or having a cup of tea.”
