Bioblitz is back again!

It’s the time of the year when all the native animals come out to play and Bioblitz is on, hooray!

Bioblitz is a free event where a team of scientists and naturalists make themselves available to take locals on walks through the local bushland. This gives everyone the opportunity to ask lots of questions and find out more about our local bushland and the life it supports.

Cessnock is a very significant area for conservation and as a result highly skilled ecologists, botanists, entomologists and mammal experts will be attending Bioblitz 2019.

This year, Bioblitz will be held on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September at Poppethead Park, Kitchener. On Saturday night, there will be a spotlighting event from 7pm to 9pm. Sunday will be full of exciting events for the whole family with walks for everyone – nature photographers, bird lovers, people fascinated by fungi and loads more!

The local trail bike police are also coming along and there will be loads of information stalls. Rotary will have a sausage sizzle, and Stanford Merthyr Public will have a cake stall - so no need to pack your lunch!

A skilled children’s educator will be running a jam-packed kids program on the Sunday, guaranteed to leave them amazed as they get out and about in the wild.

To avoid disappointment bookings are encouraged for adult activities. The kids program does not require registration. For more information and bookings visit www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/Bioblitz.
