WENDY TUCKERMAN: Funding available for War Memorials in Goulburn Electorate

Official Media Release from the Office of Wendy Tuckerman Tuesday, 20 August 2019

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman is calling for applications in the latest round of funding to protect historical war memorials and support activities that enhance veteran’s wellbeing.

A total of $175,000 is available for projects across the state through the NSW Government’s Community War Memorials Fund and the Anzac Community Grants Program.

“It’s important the service and sacrifice of current and former NSW military personnel and our Anzac heritage, is remembered and protected in the community.”

“I encourage community groups, RSL sub-branches, schools and councils across Boorowa, Yass, Crookwell, Goulburn, Moss Vale and our villages to apply before applications close on Remembrance Day.” Mrs Tuckerman said.

Minister for Veterans John Sidoti said every town or suburb has their own unique memorial that tells the story of local war history.

“If your local memorial is in need of repair or restoration, encourage your council or local ex-service organisation to apply for a grant.” Mr Sidoti said.

The Community War Memorials Fund provides grants of up to $10,000 to protect, conserve and repair war memorials including statues, honor rolls and memorial halls which commemorate the Anzac legacy.

The Anzac Community Grants Project provides grants of up to $2,000 to schools, community organizations and veterans groups to recognise Australia’s military service, educate a new generation and support the NSW veteran community.

Applications for both grants programs close on Remembrance Day, 11 November 2019.
