The Bellingen Shire came out winners at the recent North Coast Tourism Awards. Riverside Holiday Resort Urunga took out Gold for the second year in a row to win Best Self Contained Accommodation. They also took out the inaugural award for Excellence in Accessible Tourism.

“I’m so pleased that Riverside Holiday Resort Urunga has been recognised two years running for providing excellent accommodation,” said the Mayor, Dominic King. “Council has supported the property over recent years in developing their accessibility capability so it is really encouraging to see that the Resort is now being recognised as an industry leader in this space.”

This Excellence in Accessibility Award follows the Award they took out at the Sunny Awards for Excellence in Workplace Inclusion.

Taking out Gold for Adventure Tourism was Coffs Coast Surf Tours.  This young tour company runs regular tours up to Dorrigo and around the Bellingen Shire. The Adventure Tourism Award tops off the two awards they won at the Sunnys - Excellence in Micro Business and Tourism and Attractions.

“Another great achievement on the night was seeing Ilovebelloshire win Silver in their category for Specialised Tourism Services,” said the Mayor. I lovebelloshire was the only tourism website to be recognised at the Awards.

“Rod and Jo Keers from Bellingen have done an outstanding job in developing a digital platform that highlights some of the best bits of the Bellingen Shire. It’s a website that the whole community can be proud of,” the Mayor said.

“Council congratulates all our winners. We’d also like to acknowledge the success of our tourism partner, Coffs Harbour City Council for winning Gold in Destination Marketing. Both Riverside Holiday Resort Urunga and Coffs Coast Surf Tours move up to the NSW Tourism Awards in November so we wish them the very best of luck,” said General Manager, Liz Jeremy.
