New era for Albury netball

Developed in a partnership between AlburyCity and the Albury Netball Association, the new buildings include a spacious meeting room, a state of the art kitchen/canteen, and new changing rooms and toilets.

The new pavilion overlooks the courts while a new glass timekeeper's box provides sweeping views of all the on-court action.

Built at a cost of $2M, the project was completed with $610,000 from the netball association and the balance from council. The funding included a $60,000 grant secured by the Albury Netball Association from the NSW Community Building Partnership program.

The run down and ageing buildings that served local netballers for many years were demolished to make way for the new pavilion.

Albury Netball Association president Linda Barclay-Hales said netballers from around the region will now enjoy first-class facilities for matches, meetings and tournaments.

“It’s so exciting to see this brand new, purpose-built headquarters created for the thousands of people across the region who love netball, either as players, supporters or volunteers,” she said.

“We can’t wait to move in and we’re just so pleased to have been able to work so closely with AlburyCity to deliver a new-look J.C. King Park.”

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack praised the association for helping to realise a vision to create a fitting home for the netball community.

“This was a fantastic project that came in on time and on budget – and it’s a great example of how we as a council can work with groups like the A.N.A to make a real difference now and well into the future.”

“The old facilities were well past their use-by date and I think everyone associated with netball will be thrilled with the fantastic new pavilion and associated amenities.”

The new pavilion will be officially opened at a function this Saturday morning.
