Scholarship to boost country practice

The scholarship will assist 19-year-old Neave Kapoor to realise her dream of working in regional medicine when she graduates from the University of NSW (UNSW) Rural Clinical School.
Neave is the sister of one of last year’s scholarship recipients, Dhruv Kapoor.
Cr Cohn is a graduate of the clinical school and is now a teacher there.
The scholarship program is open to students who’ve lived in the Albury-Wodonga local government area or attended a local school prior to attending UNSW.
It aims to encourage doctors to return to regional communities where their skills are desperately needed once they have completed their studies.
Neave, who is a former AlburyCity Youth Councillor, has performed work experience at Wodonga Hospital, hopes that by practising as a doctor in a regional area she can help to reduce the inequity of health care between regional and metropolitan communities.
The scholarship was established through the Rural Clinical School of Medicine in 2007 to assist first year medical students studying at the University of New South Wales.
