Landholders invited to free workshop on protecting our bushland

Cessnock City Council is excited to offer a free landholder workshop educating residents on how they can help enhance biodiversity in the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA).  

The workshop will be held at Ellalong Community Hall on Wednesday 17 April from 5pm to 6.30pm. Our LGA is a haven for rare plants and birds, including species such as the Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot yet public reserves are unlikely to be sufficient to protect these species into the future. The workshop will explore how private landholders can support and enhance local conservation efforts.  

Those attending the workshop will hear from local experts on a number of topics including managing land in a way that benefits both the environment and agricultural production, and potential funding sources available to landholders to help them protect wildlife in their natural environment.  

Council has partnered with a number of organisations to bring to life including Birdlife Australia, Hunter Region Landcare Network, Hunter Local Land Services and the Biodiversity Conservation Trust.
