Blue Mountains Library: Demystifying the HSC & Beyond Year 12
Blue Mountains 12 Mar 2019

Representatives from the University Admissions Centre (UAC), NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), TAFE NSW and Katoomba High School will participate in a FREE forum at Katoomba Library on 28 March.

Blue Mountains Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill, said the panel discussion was an excellent way for Year 12 students and their families to gain a clear understanding of the HSC/ATAR system and explore the many pathways that are open to school leavers.

“Making decisions for life after high school can be daunting for parents, carers and students. Blue Mountains Library will provide direct access to key educational bodies to shed light on these complex issues,” he said.

“I would encourage any families who are embarking on the HSC to take advantage of this free event.”

The forum launches the third year of HSC events held by Blue Mountains Library, in collaboration with volunteer teachers Kate Smith and Louise Loomes. This partnership was formed so that all Mountains’ students could access free, quality information, study assistance and overall support during their HSC studies.

HSC workshops will also be held in Term 2 and Blue Mountains Library will also provide ‘lock-ins’, or a quiet place to study, as well as a large collection of online resources.

“Our public Libraries consistently challenge themselves to find ways to serve community needs and to provide free access to information and expert advice,” Cr Greenhill said. “This is an excellent example of that work.”

Demystifying HSC and Beyond Year 12 will be held at Katoomba Library, Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, on Thursday, 28 March from 7pm to 9pm. Nibbles will be provided. Bookings are essential, as places are limited. Register for this FREE event

The Library has comprehensive HSC resources for students including study guides for loan, plus a huge range of useful databases and links that can be accessed online. Get more information
