More signage to show off the Cessnock Local Government Area

First impressions count. The Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA) is about to make a better first impression on visitors as Cessnock City Council install new gateway and suburb entry signage.

Our new gateway signage will give visitors a warm welcome when they have entered the City of Cessnock. The signs will be constructed at Branxton, Black Hill and Brunkerville.

The erection of suburb entry signage is also underway for Bellbird and North Rothbury. Each sign has been carefully designed to tell a story about the suburb bearing a unique logo that represents what makes these areas so special. This project has been truly collaborative and Council would like to thank residents for their input. Council will continue pursuing additional funding opportunities to expand this project to additional suburbs in the LGA.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent was proud of the level of community interest in the suburb signs and said it shows how proud our local residents are of where they live.

“We have be overwhelmed by the communities input on the development of the signs. The logo designs are unique and this was made possible through our local resident’s feedback. What a fantastic reflection of the community pride in each suburb.”

“The gateway entry signs are also an opportunity to welcome visitors to the region and lets them know as soon as they arrive in our wonderful LGA. It’s another way of promoting our region.”

The installation of suburb entry signage and the gateway signage is expected to be completed by the end of March, weather permitting.

These projects form part of the Hunter Valley Wine Country Tourism Signage Implementation Project and are partly funded by a NSW Government grant of $1.2 million under the Building Better Regions Fund.
