Maccallum Pool, on the western side of Cremorne Point, is a unique 33m harbourside pool with heritage character and superb views. The waterside timber deck offers an unparalleled sun bathing spot. It was originally just a rock pool created by local residents to form a safe harbour swimming hole (see the video below).

The architectural style of the current pool dates from the 1920s, and was restored in keeping with that by Council in 1985.

Cleaning Timetable 2019

Due to the pool’s position above the high-water mark, and being filled with water directly from the harbour, the beautiful Maccallum pool needs to be regularly cleaned.

This maintenance process is completed once a week (tide dependant) and requires a time of closure of the whole pool area (including the surrounding decks) to allay the health and safety risks of an empty or half-full pool.

During this cleaning process, sunbathing will be permitted on the surrounding deck areas of the pool at the discretion of the maintenance team, though once the in-pool works of the team have been completed, all members of the public will be asked to leave the area before the gates are locked.

Once the pool is refilled to an adequate level it is reopened to the public.

Posted (website) opening and closing times are estimates only and may vary due to tides, weather or other variables out of our control and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

The most up-to-date information can be found on the signboards posted on the pool gates, or speak with one of our friendly reserve maintenance team.
