Cupid is in residence at local libraries throughout February with a fun programme of events in the run-up to Library Lovers’ Day on February 14.

“Like us there are many, many people in the local community who are passionate about books, learning and the fantastic social and cultural services that libraries provide, so we wanted to share that passion through some fun events for people of all ages – and what better way of doing it than by having some fun around Library Lovers’ Day,” said Catherine Johnston – Library, Museum, Gallery and Cultural Services Team Leader (Acting).

During February at the library branches in Woolgoolga, Toormina and Coffs Harbour, there will be:

Matchmaking – where library members will be matched with their ideal book; Treasure hunts in the libraries for kids and adults; Love-themed book displays at all three branches from February 11 featuring all manner of romance books, from classics to mash ups like ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’; and A ‘Passion Panel’ featuring some of Australia’s most popular romance authors – Karly Lane, Fiona McArthur and Annie Seaton at the Harry Bailey Memorial Library on February 14 from 6pm. The event is FREE but bookings are essential.

“While it is great fun, Library Lovers Day is also a day to show appreciation for the many services that local libraries provide to the Coffs Harbour community,” added Catherine. “What better time to show your love for your local library by signing the Renew Our Libraries campaign petition to highlight the need for adequate library funding in NSW.

“If you haven’t visited your local library at Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga or Toormina for a while, pop in this February and take a look at the displays. You never know who or what you may find!”
