SES Commissioner visits storm-damaged homes in Liverpool

SES Commissioner Mark Smethurst has seen firsthand the damage to the Liverpool LGA from Thursday's hail storm which has now been declared a Natural Disaster. The Commissioner and Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller on Saturday toured Moorebank, one of the hardest hit areas.

Hard working SES volunteers are responding to more than 1000 calls in the Liverpool area, mostly for roof damage.

As the Liverpool area emerges as one of Sydney's worst hit from Thursday's hail storms, residents whose homes are affected are encouraged to seek advice at the temporary Information Centre in Chipping Norton.

Mayor Waller, Mr Smethurst and Mr Carroll visit a Moorebank resident whose roof was damaged in Thursday's hail storms.

"The State Emergency Service are doing a great job, attending to more than 850 jobs in the Liverpool local government area, concentrated on Chipping Norton, Moorebank and Casula," Liverpool City Council CEO Kiersten Fishburn said.

"We've opened up the Information Centre as a one-stop shop to get information and assistance at this very tricky time just before Christmas.

"Those needing emergency assistance repairing storm damage to their homes should call the SES on 132 500."

The following agencies are available at the Chipping Norton Community Centre (Ascot Drive and Central Ave) from 9am-4pm on Saturday 22 December and Sunday 23 December:
