City of Swan double finalist in WA Tourism Awards

Published on 26 September 2018

The City of Swan’s award-winning Swan Valley Visitor Centre (SVVC) and signature Entwined in the Valley festival have been announced as finalists in the 2018 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards.

The announcement marks the first award nod for the hugely successful Entwined in the Valley, which is nominated under the Destination Marketing category just weeks ahead of the 2018 event.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said it was a great honour to be nominated for two prestigious tourism awards.

“The City of Swan takes great pride in supporting local tourism and it is wonderful to be recognised for our efforts through the greatly respected WA Tourism Awards,” he said.

“Entwined in the Valley showcases the very best of the region through its mammoth program of local events and it’s very exciting to receive this recognition so close to the 2018 festival.

“This year’s event will deliver 50 home-grown events across four days from Thursday, October 4 to Sunday, October 7.”

Mayor Lucas said the Swan Valley Visitor Centre has been recognised for many years as the cream of the crop in visitor servicing.

“The SVVC has received a number of awards in recent years including the incredible recognition as Australia’s best Visitor Centre at the 2017 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards,” he said.

“If the SVVC wins the award for its category, Visitor information Services, it will go on to represent Western Australia once again at the National Tourism Awards for a potential second consecutive title; as will Entwined in the Valley for its first.”

Swan Valley/Gidgegannup Ward Councillor Rod Henderson said it was great to see other Swan Valley businesses being recognised in this year’s awards.

“I’d like to congratulate Whiteman Park, Sandalford Winery, and Mandoon Estate for also receiving nominations,” he said.

“I’d also like to thank the tourism industry for their ongoing support toward the City’s services and programs.”

The winners of the 46th Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards will be announced on November 10 at Crown Perth.
