The City of Swan is seeking nominations for the 2019 Australia Day Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

The awards recognise three local citizens and one local community group in each local government area for making exceptional contributions to their communities.

The recipients will be selected from people and groups who have made a noteworthy contribution or given outstanding service to their local community.

City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said the annual awards were some of the most significant accolades given by the City.

“These awards acknowledge and celebrate significant contributions toward enriching community life and engagement in the City of Swan,” he said.

“It is an honour to acknowledge local champions who are making a difference to their communities.

“Each year we receive exceptional nominations – it really is inspiring to see some of the great work being done in the local community.

“If you know someone exceptional, don’t hesitate to nominate them for an Australia Day award.”

Deputy Mayor Kevin Bailey said the awards will be presented at the City’s Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony on January 26, 2019.

“I look forward to welcoming our new community members while celebrating some of the most commendable work undertaken by our existing ones.”

The nomination period closes October 31, 2018.
