Get fit, have fun and help farmers

The whole family can get fit and have fun together at Prairiewood Leisure Centre while raising much needed funds for our farmers.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone encouraged Fairfield City families to join the fun activities at the Fitness for Farmers Fundraiser on Saturday 15 September, 11am - 3pm.

“All across the eastern seaboard, crops are failing, livestock is dying and hardworking farmers are losing their livelihoods,” Mayor Carbone said.

“One of the great things about living in this country is that we do what we can to help each other. Now we want to lend a hand to our friends in the country in their time of need.

“Help out the farmers by coming along to this fundraiser at Prairiewood Leisure Centre. There will be lots of fun activities for everyone throughout the day for just a $10 donation per person. It is free for those aged under 5 years,” Mayor Carbone said.

Entry will include all fun fitness activities including line dancing, martial moves, zumba, Bodycombat and indoor sessions in the group fitness room.

“Bring some gold coins to donate to take part in traditional classic games such as apple bobbing, egg and spoon races, sack races and for the sausage sizzle. Remember all money raised goes to our farmers.”

There will also be free jumping castles and affordable pony rides for children.

“I congratulate our community minded Council staff for this initiative who are volunteering their time for free, so that all the money raised will go directly to our farming cousins.”
