Council resolved at its 26 October 2017 Ordinary meeting as follows:
That Council confirms its support for the declaration of a Local Event Day throughout the Ballina Shire for Thursday 6 September 2018 and Thursday 5 September 2019 for the Ballina Cup, with the General Manager authorised to make an application to the NSW State Government for this declaration.
An application was made to the Minister for Industrial Relations for a Local Event Day for these two days. The Minister has declared these two dates as Local Event Days throughout the Shire. A copy of the declaration notice follows.
What does a Local Event Day mean? A Local Event Day means that employees are not automatically entitled to leave, and employees who work are only entitled to penalty rates if agreed at the workplace level.
