The Old School Building has begun refurbishment, to be used as a Council Civic Centre. Council meetings, committee meetings, community workshops and Citizenship Ceremonies will be amongst regular uses for the building. Council are not knocking the building down or changing its front façade. The rear outside toilets will be demolished as they no longer meet Building Code Australia standards. They will be replaced at the rear of the building. Internal refurbishments will also take place. The refurbishment will be funded by Round 4 LRCI Grant Funding and reserves.
The footpath between the Shire Office and Old School building is currently closed. Foot Traffic can walk along the side of the Shire Office building. Gophers, wheelchairs and prams may need to travel behind the Town Hall for safe access.
