Breakthrough Music Competition Winners
City of Rockingham 1 Dec 2023

After battling through a series of heats earlier this month, finalists in the Bands (ages 12 – 24), Seniors (ages 17 – 24 or intermediate/advanced performers) and Juniors (ages 12  -16 or beginner performers) categories hit the stage for the chance to win prizes including studio recording time, interviews on local radio, performance opportunities and cash.

City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin was a judge for the final alongside prominent WA singers/songwriters Matt Gresham and Jasmine Atkins, and congratulated the successful artists on their performances.

“Breakthrough has provided local young musicians with an opportunity to fast track their career in the music industry for many years, and the range of talent that we had for this year’s final was outstanding,” Mayor Hamblin said.

On behalf of the City I would like to congratulate all of the winners, and the finalists, for putting on such fantastic performances. The City is delighted to offer these opportunities to young people and we look forward to hosting Breakthrough again in late 2024.

“The City would also like to acknowledge its Breakthrough sponsors including Street Hassle Events, Chop Street Music Productions, Palm Beach Rotary, Stockland Baldivis, Channel 7 Rockingham Beach Cup, Johnson Custom Automotive, Kwinana Industries Council, Rockingham Rotary, PhotoCoffee, and Guitar World.”
