The City of Rockingham’s efforts to support and develop the youngest members of its workforce have been recognised by leading WA employment and training agency, Nudge, during a special awards ceremony held on Wednesday 15 November 2023.

At the Nudge Annual Sundowner and Training Awards the City was proud to win the Nudge Ripple Effect Award.

There was a competitive field at the awards which included several major companies in the Western Australian construction and mining sectors. In winning the award, the City was acknowledged as an employer that has “supported and inspired a whole team approach to uplifting human potential.”

The City first began working with Nudge in 2022 to deliver its Youth Employment Program (YEP), which is focused on providing employment and training opportunities to young people aged 16 – 24. After the success of the program in its first year, the City recently welcomed its second cohort of trainees to the program in October 2023.

Several YEP trainees were also nominated as finalists for individual awards including Sam Fenelon (Nudge Young Achiever Award), Ella Rose Walker and Sean Ramm (Nudge Leadership Award), along with Kieren Milton and Jayden Leonard (Nudge Impact Award).

City of Rockingham CEO Michael Parker thanked Nudge for recognising the City’s efforts.

“The City’s Youth Employment Program is an investment in the future of local young people, and we are committed to supporting and nurturing their development here at the City,” Mr Parker said.

With support from Nudge, considerable effort has gone into this program and we are already starting to see the benefits that it can bring to both the staff in our workplace and the wider community. We are delighted to be one of a select few employers in WA that have been recognised by Nudge for our efforts in this space, and we thank them for this award.

“I would also like to acknowledge all of the City’s trainees who were nominated as finalists, they should all be incredibly proud of their efforts.”

Note: The Nudge Ripple Effect Award acknowledges an employer who “supports and inspires a whole team approach to uplifting human potential through encouraging cultural growth and change whilst being committed to continuous improvement, working collaboratively as a team and with Nudge to deliver the greatest impact possible.”
