Youth Challenge Park keeps community connected

The City of Albany and Rio Tino are giving young people another reason to skate for longer whilst staying safe and connected to their community with free WIFI now available at Youth Challenge Park.
The Park has become a hub for young people, adult skaters and parents since it’s opening in September 2021 with individuals spending entire days skating, networking and staying active.
Free WIFI at the park aims to give users of the park and spectator parents the ability to access the internet providing convenience and an enhanced sense of safety for community.
Users of the WIFI can access social media to connect with family and friends, complete their homework, search for employment, share content and parents can even work from the park.
The free WIFI is available from 6am until 9pm daily and can be found through an individual devices WIFI capability.
Community Development Coordinator Tammy Flett said the service will provide more options for community who use Youth Challenge Park.
“Providing free WIFI at the park will give users peace of mind that they can stay at the park for longer skating, supervising or enjoying time with friends and still easily connect to the internet,” she said.
“Youth Challenge Park is more than a skate park, it is a connected centre for young people to network, learn new skills, socialise and get outdoors whether they skate or not.”
Rio Tinto Manager Regional Community Service Justin Francesconi said keeping people connected in the regions is a key factor is growing the community.
“A simple connection to the internet provides residents with the ability to access information, connect with others, share content and enjoy spending time outside with friends and family,” he said.
“Youth Challenge Park has been a fantastic addition to the services available to local Albany young people, providing free WIFI is one way we can enhance the convenience of the park to community.”
Free WIFI is now available at Youth Challenge Park on Sanford Road, next to PCYC thanks to the support of the City of Albany and Rio Tinto.
