Community Fun and Sports Promotion Day

The City of Rockingham will host its annual Community Fun and Sports Promotion Day on Sunday 12 February 2023 at Churchill Park on the Rockingham Foreshore, with community members encouraged to get active and try a new sport.
The event is part of the City’s Summer Series. The Summer Series is a program of free and family-friendly events. Visitors to these events are encouraged not to smoke, vape or drink alcohol.
Running from 12pm – 4pm the event will give visitors the chance to meet local sporting representatives and learn more about new sports they might like to play in the up and coming winter season.
In addition to meeting with clubs, visitors will also be able to enjoy a climbing wall, bungee trampolines, scavenger hunt, mini golf, toddler soft play zone, sports obstacle course and giant games.
Mayor Deb Hamblin encouraged community members to take advantage of the opportunities on offer at the City’s Community Fun and Sports Promotion Day.
“Sport is integral to fostering positive physical and mental health outcomes and this event gives community members an opportunity to engage with a variety of sporting codes,” Mayor Hamblin said.
An important element of the City’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy is to provide development services to local sporting groups and opportunities that increase participation in community sport. There will be activities and sports to suit everyone’s tastes, and we encourage visitors to be SunSmart and ‘slip, slop, slap, seek and slide; when they visit.“We also acknowledge the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for supporting this popular community event.”
