The City of Albany is partnering with local business and sponsors to ensure the community and visitors are treated to a night of entertainment to ring in 2022.
Lotterywest, Southern Ports Authority and the Road Safety Commission are sponsoring the night, with seven hours of live entertainment at the New Year’s Eve Picnic and Fireworks at Anzac Peace Park.
The City is also collaborating with Rustlers Steakhouse to bring back Albany’s two fireworks displays at 9pm and midnight.
Rustlers owners Les and Susie Palmer have thrown their support behind the two fireworks displays because it was great for the whole town.
“Local events bring community together and create a vibrant atmosphere. They also play an important role in contributing to the local economy and businesses in our City,” Mr Palmer said.
“At Rustlers Steakhouse we speak to a large number of customers on New Year’s Eve. Without exception, they are all waiting excitedly for the fireworks at midnight to properly see in the start of the year ahead.”
City of Albany Manager Community Relations Louise Paterson said events contribute socially, culturally and economically.
“It is estimated that the economic impact of the City’s New Year’s Eve Picnic and Fireworks event is just over $1 million,” she said.
“This will be delivered across the entire city in restaurants, pubs, supermarkets, retail outlets and accommodation houses and will be a significant injection to our local economy.”
