Seven candidates have contested the four vacant Council seats at today’s Shire of Augusta Margaret River Local Government election. The count is now complete and the results are:

MUIR, Tracey: 2,692 (18.81%)  ALLAN, Helen: 1,394 (9.74%)            MELDRUM, Julia: 2,542 (17.76%) WHEELER, Carl: 1,517 (10.60%) BINKS, David: 1,967 (13.74%) EARL, Ian: 2,266 (15.83%) MORONEY, Richard: 1,935 (13.52%)

Shire CEO Stephanie Addison-Brown congratulated those who made the top four and thanked all candidates for running.

“It’s always good to have a competitive election process to enable the community to have a choice of whom to elect to represent them,” she said.

“I look forward to working with the incoming Councillors for the next four years.”

The four newly elected Councillors will join continuing Councillors whose terms expire in October 2023.

A swearing-in ceremony will be held on Wednesday 20 October 2021, in Council Chambers, Margaret River commencing at 2pm.

This will be immediately followed by a Special Meeting at which the new Council will vote to elect its Shire President, Deputy

Shire President, and Council Committee representatives.
