To further support the newly redeveloped Margaret River main street the Shire of Augusta Margaret River has developed a signage system of maps and directional blade signs to highlight local facilities and amenities, encouraging people to explore the town on foot.

‘The new signs will make it much easier for everyone to find their way around the town centre,’ explained Nick Logan, Director Sustainable Development and Infrastructure at the Shire of Augusta Margaret River.

“We’ve also designed pedestrian crossing signs in response to community concern about the informal crossing locations along the main street. The safety of our community is always a priority for us, and the new signs will clearly advise pedestrians to be cautious and cross safely, giving way to traffic along the main street.”

New bin signage will promote the main street as a smoking free zone.

Signage design is close to completion, but prior to final production the Shire is seeking community feedback on major elements of the project, including signage colour options and layout of the map based plinth.

‘Clear and comprehensive signage is vital to showcase all the great things we have to offer here in Margaret River,’ said Mr. Logan. ‘And we’re keen to get as much community feedback as possible on the maps to make sure we haven’t missed anything,’ he added.

The draft layout and colour options are available for feedback via the Shire’s YourSay web page (yoursay.amrshire.wa.gov.au/wayfinding-on-the-margaret-river-main-street) Deadline for feedback is Monday 9 August, 2021.

Implementation of Margaret River signage will commence this financial year. For further information please contact Project Planning Officer – Asset Services, Susan Elton on 08 9757 2512.
