New draft design for Radiata Park
City of Cockburn 21 Jul 2021
A new draft design for upgrades to Radiata Park in Aubin Grove is complete and local residents are encouraged to provide feedback.

The draft design created by Ecoscape is the result of public workshops attended by 130 people earlier this year.

Young people and residents contributed to a park vision that met community needs, including those of young people aged 15-24, in line with the City’s Community, Sport and Recreation Facilities Plan (2018-2033).

This plan identified that Aubin Grove’s 15-24 youth age group will grow substantially over the next decade, making the creation of space for this demographic a primary goal for upgrades to Radiata Park.

To learn more about the draft design, interested people are invited to attend a drop-in session on Saturday 31 July, 9-11am at the Aubin Grove Sport and Community Facility, 71 Camden Boulevard, Aubin Grove.

Key features of the design include a junior pump track, plaza style skate elements, a 3-on-3 basketball court, a ‘Ninja Warrior’ style obstacle course, landscaping, green space, seating and drinking fountains.

The playground and BBQ areas will remain in place and gym equipment will be relocated to an area with more shade.

Community consultation showed Radiata Park is valued as a safe, family-friendly green open space to bring the community together.

Preferred infrastructure items for the park were shade, benches and BBQs, drink fountains, toilets and an upgraded playground.

The five preferred youth elements for the park were multi/half-courts, a skate park, pump track, integrated skate elements and an obstacle course.

Tell the City what you think about the new design by 4pm Monday 16 August by completing an online or hardcopy feedback form.

Complete the form over the phone by calling 08 9411 3444 or forms are available at the drop-in session, the City’s Coleville Crescent Admin Centre, on request at Success Library or via the Comment on Cockburn website opens in a new window.
