Shire of Collie 24 Sep 2020

The Shire of Collie is entering a new phase of leadership as current Chief Executive Officer Mr David Blurton steps down this week and Mrs Allison Fergie is appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Blurton has held the Chief Executive Officer role since 2014. During that time, he has overseen significant changes within the Shire of Collie, including the revitalisation of the central business district, the expansion of Collie’s trails network and significant infrastructure upgrades at the swimming pool and motorplex.

Shire President Sarah Stanley said the Council was appreciative of the work undertaken over many years.

“On behalf of Council, I’d like to congratulate Mr Blurton on his efforts over the years,” Cr Stanley said.

“He has provided steady leadership through significant challenges in a tight economic environment.

“We wish Mr Blurton and his family the very best for his future.”

Council has formed a CEO Recruitment Panel to oversee the recruitment of the next Chief Executive Officer to lead the Shire through the coming years.

“Council is looking to appoint an energetic and dynamic leader with the ability to drive and develop a culture of transformation that will deliver for our community,” Cr Stanley said.

Mrs Allison Fergie, the Shire’s current Director of Corporate Services, will undertake the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer commencing 24 September for an initial period of two months.

“Council recognises the challenges of acting in the Chief Executive Officer role while continuing to be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Services department,” Cr Stanley said.
