Leisure Drive Shared Path Project
Shire of Harvey 21 Sep 2020

An exciting shared path project will get underway at Leisure Drive, Australind to improve connectivity through the area.

The proposed 2.5m wide shared path will be positioned along the northern verge of Leisure Drive and partially within the Leschenault Leisure Centre grounds.

The 1.45km path starts near the Australind Skatepark and ends near the Forrest Highway.

This shared path will provide an east-west connective link for touring cyclists from the Forrest Highway into the Shire’s path network and onto facilities in Treendale, Australind and further afield into Bunbury.

The pathway will provide a connection to schools in Kingston, Treendale and Australind and improved connection to the surrounding shopping centres, the Collie River foreshore and Leschenault Estuary.

This pathway project has been identified in the Shire of Harvey’s Local Bike Plan (2012) and in the short and long term capital works program.

The Bunbury Wellington 2050 Cycle Plan identifies the path as a secondary route as it connects users to the key trip attractors in the area.

Local schools are being encouraged to apply for a Connecting Schools Grants which can help schools apply for grants for bike and scooter parking, bike promotion, bike safety and bike education.
