Community, volunteer and not-for-profit organisations have the chance to give their projects a boost with the Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s new community grants program now open. Funding is available to deliver projects and events in the Shire that foster community resilience, connection and wellbeing.

New grants include:

Community Development and Events Grants ($2,000-$15,000) Closes 4pm, 10 September 2020 Easy Grants (up to $2,000) Open all year or until funds are expended.

Shire Director Corporate and Community Services, James Shepherd said the Shire had revised its community focused grants, widening the scope of eligible projects and streamlining the application process.

“The expanded grants program means that the Shire will be able to provide more support to groups in our community, particularly as many have been adversely impacted by COVID -19,” he said.

“Community Development and Events Grants are aimed at supporting projects or events that strengthen community wellbeing, promote participation and encourage volunteering. Funding priorities include initiatives supporting access and inclusion, youth leadership and engagement as well as celebrating diversity and lifelong learning in the community. These grants are for amounts of $2,000 - $15,000.

“The new Easy Grants for amounts up to $2,000 will be open all year round and allow us to be more agile in funding worthwhile projects as they come up.

“Applications can be submitted via a quick and easy process for eligible local groups to purchase minor equipment, training for volunteers or for small community activations and events.

“We encourage anyone interested in applying for a grant to contact us to discuss their ideas prior to submitting an application.

“A grants information session will be held on 11 August, from 3.30pm – 4.30pm at the Shire offices,” he said.
