Local residents celebrated the Ballajura Community Hub official opening on January 18, 2020, with a fun-filled open day event.

The community enjoyed free access to newly refurbished pools at Swan Active, as well as a selection of activities at the Ballajura Public Library.

The celebration marked the completion of the community hub, including a $7.8 million upgrade to the Ballajura Public Library, city offices and the swimming pools at Swan Active Ballajura.

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said the vibrant and contemporary hub provides a central point for local Ballajura residents to access multiple services and links the City’s facilities and infrastructure.

“We’ve been working for many years to integrate the City’s services into central community hubs - a place where you can come to borrow a book, have a coffee, catch up with friends, have a swim and play sports,” he said.

“Residents can also undertake many City related transactions at the service desk, removing the need to travel to our Midland Administration Centre.”

“They also have access to new programs, ranging from music, technology, physical activity and self-development activities.”

The City relied on partnerships and collaboration to build the community hub, particularly the Whiteloin Youth Agency and the Meerilinga Family Centre.
