Behind the awards - prioritising the health and wellbeing of children

The City of Swan recently won four awards at the Public Health Advocacy Institute of Western Australia (PHAIWA) 2019 Local Government Policy Awards, including the overall State winner.

The annual awards celebrate excellence in local government policy across the State, focussing on making a positive impact to children’s health and the environment.

The City received awards across three categories; planning healthy communities for children, healthy food, and young people making a difference.

The judging panel commended the City for its holistic approach to health, environment and wellbeing.

PHAIWA have now published the showcase booklet, which outlines what went into the City's submission and how our policies are shaped to address the health and wellbeing of children.
