Resilient Australia Award Winner
Shire of Harvey 1 Aug 2019

The Shire of Harvey won the Local Government State Award for the Bushfire Preparedness Documentary at the Resilient Australia Awards held on Wednesday, 31 July.

The award recognised a Bushfire Preparedness Documentary film which Shire staff developed based on The Waroona Complex Bushfires of 2016.

The film showcased the reality of how people think and cope in emergency situations, with key messages from the bushfires collected and shared in a way that they can be applied to future situations.

The Resilient Australia Awards is sponsored by the Australian Government in partnership with the states and territories and managed by the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR).

The awards celebrate initiatives that build a whole of community resilience to disasters and emergencies around Australia, as well as images capturing resilience in action and collaborative innovation across all sectors.
