Town of Cambridge to have a 0% rate increase for the 2019/2020.

The Town of Cambridge Council has adopted in principle its Budget for 2019-20 with a zero per cent rate rise.

This is the third year in a row where the Council has achieved a zero increase.

Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon said she is very pleased that the Town can continue to provide high standard services, facilities and key infrastructure projects to service the needs of the community without a rate increase.

"The new budget is both comprehensive and efficient and reflects the hard work done between the Council and the Town's Administration to provide excellent financial management standards at the Town," she said.

"Whilst many other local governments have increased their rates above the current rate of inflation, at the Town we continue to drive efficiency and demonstrate fiscal responsibility to minimise the burden on families, the elderly and singles all of whom are also tightening their belts.

"The Town is inviting the public to comment on the draft budget for the 2019-2020 financial year, with all submissions being reported to the Council prior to adoption."

A copy of the 2019-2020 draft budget can be downloaded from the Town's website or can be viewed at the Administration Centre, Cambridge Library or the Wembley Community Centre. All submissions concerning the draft budget should be received at the Administration Centre or by emailing [email protected] by no later than 5.00 pm on Friday 12 July 2019.
