Friday, 24 May: A 90 year old Spearwood man has used his gardening expertise to enrich Villa Dalmacia Aged Care Services facility. Bosko Borkovic has won a number of certificates for his beautiful residential gardens. 

Thusday, 23 May: A new seniors' social club has been established in Beeliar. The new group was the brainchild of local resident Henry Peters, who approached the City of Cockburn and Beeliar Community Voice with the hope of establishing a Senior Citizens Club to give older residents something social to look forward to every week.

Residents can now have their hearing tested at a new audiology service at Specsavers in Spearwood and Success. Uncorrected hearing loss can have serious health consequences, including 29 per cent increased risk of falls, a 41 per cent higher risk of depression and a 52 per cent higher risk dementia.

Wednesday, 22 May: The City of Cockburn has gained Department of Transport approval to close the entire Coogee Maritime Trail to motorised vessels. The extended boundary, which now aligns with the existing Fishing Prohibited area, will offer increased safety for divers and swimmers at the popular recreational spot.

The City of Cockburn backs WOW Day to recognise the important work of our SES volunteers. This year’s Wear Orange Wednesday event marked the 60th anniversary of the State Emergency Service.

Tuesday, 21 May: Bizlink and Dome Cockburn help people with disability gain employment. Angela Celenza, who has been working at Cockburn Dome for five years, said the people she works with are friendly and care for her.

The sod has been turned at the new Opal Aged Care facility site in Treeby. The $31m facility will include 120 beds and will be located on Abelia Road.

A new skill sharing website has launched in Cockburn. Skill Sharers is a website enabling people to share the things they love doing by helping cover public liability, bookings, find suitable venues and look after catering and promotions

Fremantle Christian College in Hamilton Hill has opened its new cornerstone building. It will cater for specialist learning, including 2 science labs, and food and design studios.

Monday, 20 May: Labor’s Josh Wilson has retained the federal seat of Fremantle at the Federal Election. Mr Wilson said he was grateful to be trusted with the responsibility for the Fremantle electorate.

Liberal Ben Morton has retained the federal seat of Tangney at the Federal Election. He said he would be relentless in his campaign for Roe 8and 9.

Friday, 17 May: Hamilton Hill sustainability guru Chris Ferreira said councils were more willing to accept sensitive infill than people gave them credit for. He was speaking in the lead up to opening his home to the public last weekend for a series of sustainability workshops and to demonstrate his plan to accommodate four homes on his block while retaining 40 trees.
