Plants to residents 2019

The Town of Bassendean is offering their residents an opportunity to purchase up to a maximum of 30 native plant seedlings per household at a subsidized cost of $1.00 each.

 To take advantage of the opportunity to showcase some of Western Australia’s unique flora in your garden, simply bring your rates notice or a document which provides proof of residency within the Town to:

 Customer Service Centre, 35 Old Perth Road. Bassendean Between 9.00am - 4.00pm, from Tuesday 5th March - Friday 15th March 2019 (unless sold out prior).

Residents are invited to attend Customer Service Centre and will be given the opportunity to purchase a voucher for up to 30 seedlings, Residents can chose and collect their seedlings using their voucher from the Men Of The Trees nursery on Saturday 22nd June 2019 between 8am and 1pm. Men of the trees is located at  Lot 2 Stirling Crescent (Corner Amherst Road) Hazelmere.

Stocks are limited and your voucher must be present on the day of pick up, no plants will be issued if you do not have a voucher.

The timing of this scheme allows the seedlings sufficient time to become established over the wettest months of the year. Being local native plants, the seedlings are already well adapted to our climate and, once established, should not require a high level of watering.

There are many benefits to growing local plants. The plants themselves are often beautiful when in flower, may have attractive foliage and can attract bush birds and butterflies to your garden. Furthermore, unlike potentially invasive exotic garden plants, local native plants do not pose an additional weed risk to the Town’s natural areas. Many of the seedlings available in this scheme are naturally compact and attractive, however, like all garden plants they will require some maintenance to suit a garden situation.

 The Scheme is only available to the Town of Bassendean Residents/ Rate payers
