(28/11/2018) It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Freo
City of Fremantle 28 Nov 2018

With Christmas less than a month away, the City of Fremantle is offering plenty of ways to help take the stress out of this festive season.

Fremantle is WA’s best open air shopping experience, with a diverse range of shops to find the perfect gifts for all, plus a host of places to relax and unwind after a successful shopping expedition.

WA’s best Christmas market, Bazaar, returns to Fremantle Arts Centre this weekend.

This three days of retail heaven, featuring 50 of WA’s most talented designers and makers, is held in the lovely surrounds of FAC’s front garden.

With a bar, delicious food and DJs, it’s the perfect chance to pick up unique, quality Christmas gifts, find the finest jewellery, fashion, ceramics, sculpture, woodwork, and textiles, and support local artists this festive season.

Bazaar opens on Friday night 30 November and continues all day Saturday and Sunday from 9am–5pm.

Tomorrow evening, 29 November, you can explore the many ways to create, share and celebrate the holiday season without excess waste at the Makerspace Sustainable Christmas workshop.

Pick you own personal style and make a string bag, boomerang bag or T-shirt bag. Turn old books into new art objects to decorate your tree, create personal wrapping paper and cards, play some unusual games with and without screens and join us for a barbie in the courtyard afterwards.

The workshop is from 5-7pm at the Fremantle Library. To register visit the What's On page on the City of Fremantle website.

Tomorrow night’s Long Table Dinner down High Street in support of St Pats Community Support Centre is sold out, but non-diners are still encouraged to come down to enjoy the atmosphere and entertainment on offer.

WA’s best loved jazz outfit, The Libby Hammer Quintet, is returning to Fremantle with The Arcadian Voices for Carols by Candlelight at Fremantle Oval on Sunday 16 December.

Join in the Christmas spirit with a festive sing-along and enjoy free children's activities and entertainment throughout the evening.

Pack a picnic or indulge in the delicious food on offer from vendors who will be trading from 5pm.

Two more prizes of $500 to spend in your favourite shop in Fremantle are up for grabs this week in the City of Fremantle’s #shopFREO Christmas competition.

Just ask for the unique code word when you spend $20 or more in a participating store, then head to the #shopFREO page on the Fremantle Story website to enter. Prizes are drawn each Friday until 21 December.

Next week Free Parking Santa and his elves will be back for their annual visit from the North Pole.

They’ll be appearing in Freo (Monday through Thursdays) right up until Christmas looking for happy shoppers and paying for their parking. Check the City’s Facebook page for locations all through December.

The City of Fremantle’s Christmas decorations are up along the Cappuccino Strip and High Street.

The City is also working with the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce to coordinate a window display competition for shopfront business in Fremantle, with Sirona Capital providing $2500 in prizes for the best windows.
