Big fun for small people at Freo Toy Library Open Day
City of Fremantle 3 Oct 2018

It’s going to be a day of big fun for small people this Thursday at the Freo Toy Library Open Day.

The City of Fremantle’s toy library is the biggest in WA, with a huge range of toys, costumes, construction sets, musical instruments and puzzles.

Early Childhood Programs Officer John Geijsman said joining the toy library was a great way for kids and parents to avoid toy burnout.

“A lot of toys get hammered a fair bit and using our toys means you can get a fresh batch of toys every three weeks,” Mr Geijsman said.

“The open day is a great opportunity for parents and kids to come down and check out all the things we have to offer, and we’re going to have so much happening.

“We’ll have Buster It’s All About Play coming along, there’s a Cozy Coupe race track happening, we’ll have a sensory play area, LEGO station, face painting and a sausage sizzle.

“We also have a very special guest presenter Wendy Binks – the author of the ‘Where’s Stripey’ children’s books - coming in to do a couple of story time sessions.”

The Freo Toy Library Open Day is on Thursday 4 October from 10am-3pm and entry is free.

The toy library, at the Fremantle PCYC at 34 Paget Street in Hilton, is open four days a week and is one of the few fully-staffed toy libraries in Perth.

It’s stocked with a range of toys to suit 0-7 year olds, with expert staff to provide advice on selecting age and skill appropriate toys.
