Shire Rates Notices issued for new year

Released 23 July 2018

Shire of Broome Rates Notices for 2018/19 have now been either posted or emailed to ratepayers.

Broome Shire President, Harold Tracey, says that a rates increase of just 1.78 per cent has achieved a balanced budget without cutting services provided to ratepayers.

“This continues a commitment from Council to keep increases in rates and other costs to a minimum,” Cr Tracey says.

“A push to keep improving efficiency at the Shire means we’ve been able to make savings, and an emphasis on securing grant funding for major projects means we can reduce the financial impact on our community.

“Rates this year will contribute to projects including upgrades at Town Beach, Chinatown and BRAC, the new Youth Bike Precinct, operating facilities such as the Library and Civic Centre, and maintaining our parks, streetscapes, footpaths and more.”
