Busselton Shortlisted to host Qantas Group Pilot Academy

Published on 22 June 2018

The Qantas Group announced today that Busselton Margaret River Airport is one of nine nationally and the only one in Western Australia shortlisted to host the new Qantas Group Pilot Academy.

Mayor Grant Henley advised “The City was pleased to receive the news, given more than 60 regional cities put forward proposals.”  He further advised that “While we do not know the details at this stage, the City will explore the opportunity, as this could represent significant economic benefits for the entire South West region”.

The City will meet with the Qantas Group Pilot Academy management team over the coming weeks.  It will also work collaboratively with stakeholders in State Government and other regional airports in the South West.  A final decision on the Academy’s location is expected to be made later this year.

Objectives outlined in this statement are aligned with Key Goal Area 5 in the City of Busselton’s Strategic Community Plan (2013): Smart, connective, accessible.
