Gympie Regional Council staff are in the process of rectifying issues with the water supply to the township of Goomeri.

Last week, the main bore that delivers water to Goomeri failed. Two auxiliary bores were also found to be inoperable. As a result, Council commenced carting water to Goomeri last week.

Currently, Goomeri’s water reservoir is holding at 60 percent. Work has commenced to return to source water from the nearby Kinbombi weir. However, in order for this option to be viable, work is needed at Goomeri’s water treatment plant.

It is anticipated this work will be complete by the end of the week. Council will continue to cart water in to Goomeri to provide a supplementary water supply for as long as needed.

Council is urging Goomeri residents to be mindful of the amount of water they are using and that level three restrictions still apply. The target daily usage is 180 litres per person, per day.
