Gympie, start your engines and get set for Wheels on Mary

Gympie Regional Council and RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship are inviting members of the public to visit Gympie’s iconic Mary Street on Friday, 21 May 2021 from 6.30pm to 8.00pm for Wheels on Mary.The family friendly event celebrates the Gympie region being selected to host the Accent Benchtops Rally Queensland from Friday, 21 to Sunday 23 May.This will be the public’s chance to meet the drivers and take photos alongside their cars, before the teams hit the track on Saturday, 22 May.The event will showcase all 78 cars involved in the rally who will pack Mary Street, from the Smithfield Street intersection to the Five Ways Roundabout.The festivities will also feature live music and fare supplied by local food vendors, making it a night not to miss.Gympie Regional Council Mayor Glen Hartwig says it’s a great honour for the Gympie region to host round two of The RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship, and Wheels on Mary will be the perfect way to celebrate their arrival.“Being able to host an event of this magnitude is a huge honour for Gympie and illustrates that as our region continues to grow, we will be capable of hosting other sporting events in the future.“Whether you are a car enthusiast, or looking for something to entertain the whole family, Wheels on Mary will be a can’t miss event.”“I would like to thank everybody who has been involved with putting Wheels on Mary and the Accent Benchtops Rally Queensland together,” he said.A road closure will be in effect during this event from the Smithfield Street intersection, commencing at 4.30pm and concluding at 8.30pm.
