The Annual Du Rietz Art Awards honour the architect of the beautiful historic School of Arts building where the Gallery is housed, and is open to all experience levels. Gympie Regional Council is inviting artists to enter their work into the 2021 Du Rietz Art Awards, with $13,000 in prizes over six awards.

Gympie Regional Council 2D Award – any medium, any subject, e.g. paintings, drawing, printmaking, mixed media and photography. A Highly Commended Award will be given within this section.

Budget Steel 3D Award – this section is acquisitive and the winning work will become the property of the sponsor, Budget Steel. Any medium, any subject. A Ceramic Award will be given within this section.

SoMa SoMa Locals Award – residents of Gympie Regional Council area only. One winner to be selected from the above awards.

Councillor Dan Stewart said that the awards are a prestigious event that recognises and supports local artists.

“Gympie is fortunate to have such a rich arts scene that promotes and supports aspiring and professional artists.

“The Du Rietz Art Awards are a great way of showcasing our talented local artists. I encourage people to be a part of this competition. Not only will you will be increasing your profile as a local artist but also directly adding to the creative culture of our region” he said.

The selected finalists will be shown in an exhibition available for viewing from Thursday, 29 July – 3 September 2021.

Entries into the Du Rietz Art Awards close 4pm, Tuesday 8 June 2021.

Entry to the Gympie Regional Gallery at 39 Nash Street is free, with opening hours from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday.
