Fun for all on Redlands Coast over Easter school holidays
Redland City Council 15 Mar 2024

Redland City Council is hosting a range of activities to keep children of all ages engaged and entertained over the Easter school holidays.

The two-week program includes arts and craft classes, science workshops, messy play, game sessions and a wildlife show.

Activities will be held at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Redland Art Gallery, and the Cleveland, Capalaba and Victoria Point libraries.

Mobile Library visits will also continue throughout the holidays, stopping at places such as Mount Cotton Park, Thornlands Community Park and the Alexandra Hills Community Hall.

Activities planned for IndigiScapes include the popular Eco Markets – to be held on Saturday 6 April – and a wildlife show featuring Ranger Stacey and Geckoes Wildlife.

There will also be a Big Bang Science show at IndigiScapes where children aged 8-12 can learn about how the sun, rain and nutrients work with nature to nourish plants and wildlife.

Capalaba Library will host four showings of Dino Encounters on 4 April, giving children under eight a chance to find out more about prehistoric reptiles, discover dino eggs and play Jurassic games.

Other Library activities include beading, painting and letter yarning, and two mornings of games fun featuring activities like bowling and play fishing.

There is also plenty on offer for high school-aged children, including fantasy map creation, calligraphy, and a Sims video game challenge where teens can unleash their inner architect.

Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland will host Create Exchange: Ngumpi from 8 April, showcasing the work of Ngugi women Sonja Carmichael and Elisa Jane Carmichael.

Accompanying the exhibition until 4 June will be a series of activities including a self-guided explore and draw activity, weaving circles and workshops.

Bookings are essential for most school holiday activities as numbers are limited. Visit Council’s What’s On Calendar for more information.

Please be aware that new opening hours of 8am-3pm will take effect at the IndigiScapes Centre from Monday 18 March. The change does not impact the walking tracks or Native Nursery.
