Public notice: Emerald Animal Management Centre (council pound) closed

Please be advised that the Emerald pound will be temporarily closed due to the detection of Parvovirus.

Parvovirus is a highly contagious infection, known to spread during wet weather and affects all dogs, of any age.

It is transmitted by direct contact with an infected dog or through faecal matter from an infected dog. The virus is able to remain on hair, feet and shoes, clothes and other objects.

Symptoms of Parvovirus infection include:

Vomiting Collapse Lethargy

If your dog is experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact your vet immediately.

The pound is currently closed and is expected to remain closed for 2 weeks while council is undertaking disinfection and remedial works.
