Preparations for the 2023/24 season at the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools are underway, with both facilities to open to the public at 3pm Monday, 13 November.

Gannawarra Shire Council, which manages both facilities, has spent the past few months getting ready for what is predicted to be a bumper season.

“We welcomed more than 31,000 visitors to the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools during the five-month season last summer, and we are expecting similar or higher numbers this season,” Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Roger Griffiths said.

“Like with previous seasons, there will be something on offer for all interests between November and March, including fun days, giant inflatable sessions, water aerobics classes and the popular early morning lap swimming program, which begins at the start of December and will run to the end of February.”

The Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be open from 3pm to 7pm during November, with the traditional summer opening hours of 10am to 8pm coming into effect from Friday, 1 December and be in place until Thursday, 29 February 2024.

Operating hours will revert to 3pm to 7pm Friday, 1 March 2024, with the season to end at 7pm on Sunday, 10 March 2024.

“Residents are advised that the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either Cohuna or Kerang is 23 degrees Celsius or lower,” Mr Griffiths said.

“Any changes to opening times, including during instances of inclement weather, will be publicised via Council’s Facebook page.”

Season passes will be available to purchase from the Cohuna and Kerang Customer Service Centres from Friday, 27 October or from either pool during the season.
