Council officially announced the launch of the 2023 Inaugural Charters Towers Regional Business Excellence Awards at the Quarterly Business Breakfast held this morning at the Charters Towers RSL.

These awards have been designed to celebrate the effort and achievements of the business community in the region with a gala event evening planned to be held on Saturday, 20 May 2023.

Mayor Frank Beveridge said Charters Towers Region has a diverse and dedicated business community across mining, agricultural, and tourism and these industries, together with small to medium enterprises, all contribute to the economic vitality of our community.

“The 2023 Regional Business Excellence Awards will be an opportunity to showcase and acknowledge the accomplishments of our leading businesses,” said Mayor Beveridge.

Businesses in the Region are invited to participate by becoming a sponsor of the Awards.

Council is looking to partner with businesses interested in becoming sponsors of one of the seven Award categories.

These categories include Customer Excellence, Technological and Innovation Impact, Employer of Choice, Environmental Contribution, New and Emerging Business, Business of the Year, and People’s Choice.

As a sponsor, businesses will become an integral part of the 2023 Charters Towers Business Awards enjoying access to a locally connected campaign.

“The creation of these awards is another direct result of implementing the Charters Towers Regional Economic Development and Innovation Strategy (EDIS).

“We all know that business is a full-time calling requiring years of hard work, determination, and commitment”.

“It is hoped that potential sponsors will see the opportunity to be involved as a way of supporting businesses who have weathered the tough times and come out the other side stronger and more resilient,” continued Mayor Beveridge.

Nominations will open on 30 January and close on 28 February 2023 after which the judging process will commence.

A number of dedicated workshops will be held through the nomination and judging process to assist people.
