Pause in cash payments to Council at Australia Post branches
Alpine Shire 19 Jul 2022

Council’s previous arrangement with Macquarie Bank to facilitate the payment of Council rates and fees in cash at Australia Post was terminated by the bank in April.

Alpine Shire Mayor Sarah Nicholas said community members have not been able to make cash payments to Council at their local post office since this termination.

“We have since been seeking a new financial institution partner to allow the service to continue,” she said.

“We understand that cash payments are preferred by some members of our community even though digital transfer is available.

“You can still pay your rates and fees in cash at any of our three Customer Service locations, where our friendly staff will be happy to help.”

Payments can be made in cash at Council’s three Customer Service desks located in Mount Beauty Library, Myrtleford Library and Bright Council Offices.

Council will keep the community informed on the progress of reinstating the Australia Post payment service.
