Alpine Shire 15 Jul 2022

Mr Jeremy began his employment with Council as Manager Asset Development in 2016, stepping into the role of Director Assets in 2017.

Alpine Shire Mayor Sarah Nicholas congratulated Mr Jeremy for his appointment following an extensive recruitment process in a highly competitive field of applicants.

“We are extremely pleased to appoint Mr Jeremy as the next CEO of Alpine Shire Council,” she said.

“Throughout the recruitment process we considered a number of high calibre applicants for the position, and we thank all applicants for their time as we made this important decision.

“We believe Mr Jeremy is the person best placed to lead the delivery of an exciting range of services and projects for our diverse community.

“We have confidence that he will lead with integrity as we work to deliver an extensive capital works program, undertake long-term, deliberative planning and guide our community through the next stages of the COVID pandemic.”

Mr Jeremy has stepped into the Acting CEO role a number of times over the past five years, as well as having a stint as Director of Corporate Performance.  He brings a wealth of local experience and expertise in leadership and project delivery.

Cr Nicholas said she is confident that Mr Jeremy’s existing connection with Councillors, the community and Council staff will ensure a smooth and constructive transition for the organisation.

“We look forward to building on our strong relationship with Mr Jeremy as we work together to deliver the best possible outcomes our community,” she said.

“It’s fantastic to be able to appoint a CEO who lives in the Alpine Shire, who understands local opportunities and challenges and who is invested in the outcomes for his community.”

Acting CEO Alan Clark took over following former CEO Charlie Bird’s departure in May.

He will continue to lead the organisation until Mr Jeremy starts his position on Monday, 25 July.

Cr Nicholas thanked Mr Clark for his leadership, integrity and the way he has worked collaboratively with Councillors to ensure a smooth period of transition.
