Did you know that by composting we can reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill?

By weight, up to half of the rubbish that Maroondah households create is organic waste such as food scraps, paper and garden waste.

Passionate composters eager to learn more about composting are invited to attend a free online Advanced Composting Workshop on Saturday 8 May 2021.

About the workshop

Join our expert Ellen Regos from Cultivating Communities as she helps to broaden the scope of participants’ knowledge of composting methods.

Here you’ll learn about the science of composting, how PH levels can impact compost, as well as tips for recycling all your household food and organic waste into compost for your garden.

To celebrate International Compost Awareness Week (2-8 May), all participants will go into the draw to win a Compost Revolution voucher to go towards the purchase of a home composting system.

Council offers residents up to 60 per cent off a range of at-home compost systems and accessories through its Compost Revolution program. There are a range of discounted systems available, from pet poo composters to Bokashi buckets to traditional compost bins, as well as free delivery.

Households are entitled to one subsidised system per year through the program. The Compost Revolution website also includes free tutorials on composting, worm farming and Bokashi systems.
