Nautilus Scuba Club Inc, Cairns Cricket Association and Meredith Anne Rundell Inc will share in over $12,000 of Council funding to assist with the staging of events this year.

The funding was allocated through the Hiring of Council Venues and Resources Grant, which provides assistance to organisations to host events that make a positive contribution to the community.

Nautilus Scuba Club received $2,792 for the Underwater Photo Competition, to be held at the Tanks Art Centre from 28 May to 20 June.

Cairns Cricket Association received $4,572 to assist with staging the Barrier Reef Big Bash (BRBB) tournament – a BBL style, T20 Cairns cricket competition held under the lights at Griffiths Park Manunda from February to March.

Meredith Anne Rundell Inc received $4,896 for its annual Dance Extravaganza, to be staged on 27 February at Cairns Performing Arts Centre.

This event showcases performances by local, state and national dancers and raises funds and awareness for the Meredith Ann Rundell charity, which supports and grants wishes to women with metastatic breast cancer.
