Tech funding to add flexibility at kindergartens

Corangamite Shire's seven kindergartens will get a tech boost thanks to $10,250 in grants from the State Government.

The funding, from the Building Blocks IT grants program, will pay for new iPads that can be used for a range of purposes.

Council Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mason thanked the State Government for the funding and said the tablets would be versatile tools in educating some of the Shire’s youngest residents.

“Contemporary learning involves researching topics with children. These tablets will be a way to use audio visual media to support investigations, make movies, and document learning,” Mr Mason said.

“Our educators will also be able to share the children’s experiences with parents via the secure online Kinderloop platform.

“They will also help with paperless documentation.”

The following kindergartens will receive funding:

Cobden & District Kindergarten Simpson & District Kindergarten Timboon & District Kindergarten Terang Children's Centre Skipton Kindergarten Lismore Preschool Derrinallum Preschool

Corangamite Shire recently received $689,000 towards a second playroom at Cobden and District Kindergarten and $400,000 towards expansion of Skipton Pre-School, through the Building Blocks Facility Upgrade stream.
